Airline Guitars ’59 Coronado DLX
The Airline ’59 Coronado DLX: Deco Swagger, Modern Reliability
Channeling the sharp lines and soft curves of the vintage Supro Coronado/Martinique era, the Airline ’59 Coronado DLX delivers that unmistakable mid-century vibe—without the vintage hassles. Inspired by the guitars made famous by players like Dan Auerbach, this tribute keeps the look you love and upgrades the feel, tuning stability, and tone for today’s stages and studios. With Alnico Hot-10 humbuckers, a TonePros roller bridge paired with a Bigsby, and a zero fret for consistently smooth action, the ’59 Coronado DLX is built to be played.
New for this run: Black Sparkle (limited). Also available in Metallic Blue, White, and White Lefty.
Iconic Design, Elevated for Today
Classic Silhouette with Smart Upgrades
The ’59 Coronado DLX retains the art-deco aesthetic—rubber body binding, pearl block markers, and bold contours—while swapping fragile Res-O-Glas for a tone-chambered mahogany body. The result is a warmer, richer response that still feels lively under the fingers. A comfortable bolt-on neck with a bound fingerboard and zero fret delivers fast, even playability across the board.
Details that Matter
From the TonePros roller bridge and Bigsby vibrato to Wilkinson (Grover-style) tuners, every piece of hardware is chosen for reliability and musical feel. This is the Coronado look—refined for real-world use.
Pure Vintage Character with Modern Versatility
Alnico Hot-10s: Chime to Growl
Dual Alnico Hot-10 humbuckers capture the airy snap and midrange authority associated with the classic Supro voice—clean sparkle when you want it, gritty breakup when you lean in. A 3-way toggle plus independent Volume and Tone controls serve up everything from jangly rhythm to garage-rock snarl.
Chambered Mahogany Resonance
Where fiberglass could feel sterile and fragile, the chambered mahogany build adds warmth and sustain while staying lightweight and responsive. Add the roller bridge + Bigsby combo and you get smooth wobble with stable tuning—night after night.
Vintage Soul, Zero Headaches
Built for Playability and Longevity
Originals are rare and finicky; the ’59 Coronado DLX is purpose-built for dependable performance. A modern neck carve, zero fret, and upgraded hardware keep action consistent and maintenance simple—so you can focus on the music, not the bench.
Iconic Look, Player-Friendly Price
Get the deco swagger, premium materials, and pro setup—without the vintage-market price tag or upkeep. It’s the Coronado you’ve always wanted, ready to gig and record.

Airline Guitars ’59 Coronado DLX
Inspired by Dan Auerbach of The Black Keys
Inspired by the vintage Supro Coronado and Martinique
The Airline '59 Coronado is a tribute to the Supro Coronado model used by Dan Auerbach of The Black Keys. It retains the deco swagger of the original Supro Martinique and Coronado guitars, while delivering the reliability of an axe fresh off the showroom floor. With interest in vintage Supro Guitars shooting through the roof (thanks in no small part to artists like The Black Keys and Jack White), this Airline ’59 Coronado Reissue may be the closest thing you’ll find to a playable vintage piece - Especially if you’re on a working musician’s budget.
Retaining the sharp lines and soft curves of the original Coronado, the Airline reissue looks sexy and has been upgraded for tone and functionality. Unlike the clunky and unreliable hardware used on the vintage Supros, this Airline ’59 Coronado features Wilkinson tuning pegs and a TonePros roller bridge that works great in tandem with the Bigsby tremolo. The ’59 Coronado also includes traditional appointments like rubber body binding and a zero fret neck.
The original vintage guitars were made of “Res-O-Glas” (a nickname for fiberglass coined by Valco/Supro) and naysayers may be quick to take issue with the tone chambered Mahogany body material used here. Res-O-Glas does have a very distinct sound, however, it can be sterile, less stable for tuning, and prone to cracking. The chambered Mahogany is warmer and richer, like a traditional chambered solidbody electric guitar, and sounds great with the Alnico Hot-10 pickups. It is also more stable and ages well.
Overall, the Airline Guitars ’59 Coronado is a fantastic guitar with a voice all its own and a sweet-looking body that’s a dead ringer for those early Supros. This is one of those guitars that makes the union of vintage and modern seem like a very, very appealing mix.
