Eastwood Airline Lap Steel

I am new to lap steel. I have been experimenting with various open tunings. Right now I like how Open D tuning sounds with Blues, Rock and Country Rock music. The Airline sounds awesome whether âcleanâ sound or with overdrive. It looks amazing and to me totally lives up to my expectations.

These are wonderful. Sounds terrific and the price is fantastic. If you don't have a lap steel, it's a ton of fun! If you're thinking about buying one, just go for the Airline, you won't regret it. I also bought the hard-shell case. It fits perfect and was a great value.

This is my first experience with an Eastwood guitar. I researched lap style guitars for awhile - both vintage and new. The Airline has exceeded expectations. And the communication and service have been terrific. I own a fair number of guitars. I'm thinking there will be another Eastwood in my future! Great job!!

I am a multi-instrumentalist who was first inspired by the great David Lindley's playing with Jackson Browne. I wanted a Red Airline Lap Steel, but "settled" for the green. WOW this lapper is a real beauty and the green is BEAUTIFUL. Moreover, the fit and finish are impeccable; this lap steel is a gem to look at. Being a working musician all my life I am not quick to fall for a pretty face or I would be playing nothing but overpriced Gold Tones. This is also a stone tone machine. Clean tones conjure up aural delight ala my Emmons Pedal Steel and the humbucker sustains like I could cook my lunch while holding a note. What else can I say, except owning another Eastwood "Ricky" lap steel, an Eastwood Mandocaster and an Eastwood "Ricky" electric mandolin is all I need to say, other than I am not done with my Eastwood/Airline purchases! Now stop reading and order one-get off the fence 'cuz at these prices, it just doesn't get any better than this!

Let me start out by saying I'm 65 years old. I had to give up playing guitar about 15 years ago because of complications with my hands left my fingers permanently bent out of shape. Couldn't play chords or lead anymore. Fast forward and saw a video of someone playing a lap steel. Thought, maybe I could do that. Got one of my guitars out, laid it down, and saw that this might work. I didn't know that much about lap steels and purchased one. It was fine, but didn't have the tone I was looking for. I read up, researched, and watched videos. One of the lap steels that I was impressed with was Eastwood's remake of the Airline. I saw it used in quite a few videos and being used by instructors. I went to their website several times while making a decision on what to purchase for my 2nd lap steel. Later, on a Sunday, I looked at the Airline again. A few hours later, I got an email from the president of Eastwood guitars, asking if he could help me out with anything. We emailed back and forth several times, the last one was 10:00 p.m. That's 5 star customer service! I made the decision to buy the Airline in sea foam green, placed the order with the help of Vince, (more 5 star customer service), on Monday. 3 days later the lap steel arrived from Liverpool England for a $35.00 shipping charge! I was ordering small items from Amazon at the same time and they were taking 2 - 3 weeks to arrive. Enough of the back story. Awesome tone, "play ability",sound, and awesome customer service. Arrived de-tuned, but set up was close to spot on. There are better lap steels you can purchase, but you'll pay 3 - 4 times more for them, and the difference just isn't that much better. If you are looking at $200,00 - $300.00 lap steels, do your self a favor, save your pennies, and step up and purchase the Airline from Eastwood. I 've played the $300.00 Ephiphone Electar and the $400.00 Gretsch. They aren't even close to being as nice as the Airline. Customer service, best I've experienced in quite some time, great pricing, great product, great value, what more can you ask for? I'll be back to buy the matching 8 string Mando Lap Steel. Thanks to all at Eastwood, this 65 year old with deformed hands,is making music again!!
