Story
Over the years, musicians of all stripes have discovered the treasure-trove of tone that is our Airline ‘59 3P DLX. Not least of these players is Ripley Johnson of the band Wooden Shjips. Ripley was an early adopter of the model, and after some time the question came up -- how can we make it even better?
Here is what Ripley had to say: "The '59 Airline is the most versatile guitar that I've ever owned. We can take it to another level and blow everyone away with the addition of a built-in preamp boost. I would love to really push my amps with the simple flick of a switch - to get some really rich, burning tones. And it would be perfect for leads. I can't really imagine it getting any better than that!"
Well, here it is folks. The '59 3P "Ripley" Custom features simplified volume and tone controls, as well as our proprietary Transwarp Drive™. The small toggle switch is located below the bridge, in front of the Master Volume for easy access. When we say this is “made for the stage,” we really do mean it.
