Ripley Johnson

Ripley Johnson is a true psychedelic rock guitar hero - playing some far-out solos with his Airline, in both his bands: Wooden Shjips and Moon Duo.

San Francisco's Wooden Shjips can safely be described as one of the most important psychedelic bands of the past 15 years, with a string of albums that helped to inspire a new generation of psych-rockers worldwide. Ripley Johnson's delay-heavy guitar is, of course, an essential part of the formula, and his side-project Moon Duo have now also become almost as popular as his main band.

For both bands, Ripley uses Airline guitars. He started with a 59 3P DLX, but in recent years he's been using the signature model he developed with us, the 59 3P "Ripley" Signature - which features less knobs and a Transwarp Overdrive circuit switch.
